Our approach

Performance psychology, counseling, and coaching converge to enhance human potential by addressing the mental and emotional aspects of performance across various domains, such as sports, business, and the arts. Performance psychology applies psychological principles to help individuals consistently perform at their best, focusing on skills like emotional regulation, concentration, and resilience. Counseling complements this by addressing mental health concerns that may hinder performance, such as anxiety or stress, while coaching emphasizes personal and professional growth through goal setting and the development of strengths. Together, these disciplines aim to optimize performance and well-being by fostering a supportive environment for skill development and peak achievement

Meet Anna.

  • Anna Huddleston, M.A., LPC

Anna Huddleston is a Licensed Professional Counselor and Regional Supervisor with Magellan Federal's Military Family Life Counseling (MFLC) Program. Based in Virginia Beach, she has a diverse background that spans private practice, school-based counseling, and athletics. As a former collegiate track and field athlete, Anna developed a strong foundation in discipline, teamwork, and performance psychology. This athletic experience, combined with her extensive coaching background, has significantly informed her approach to counseling and leadership. As an active-duty Navy spouse, Anna has embraced the challenges of frequent relocations, living in seven different states over the past two decades, while consistently maintaining a strong professional presence.

Driven by her passion for helping others, Anna pursued a master's degree in professional counseling mid-career, recognizing it as the perfect avenue to combine her varied experiences in athletics, coaching, and supporting others. Her journey has led her to discover her true professional calling: not only assisting clients in identifying their strengths but also mentoring fellow counselors to excel in their clinical roles. Anna's unique perspective as a former athlete, coach, military spouse, and mental health professional enables her to provide invaluable support to service members and their families while contributing to the development of other counselors in the field. Her athletic background has proven particularly valuable in understanding the mental aspects of performance and resilience, which she applies to her work with both clients and fellow professionals.

“"I had the privilege of working with Anna during a crucial time in my athletic career, and her expertise truly transformed my performance. She created a supportive environment that allowed me to explore my thoughts and feelings openly, equipping me with tailored strategies for managing stress and enhancing focus. The visualization techniques she taught became invaluable during competitions, helping me perform at my best. Anna’s holistic approach not only improved my performance but also fostered a positive mindset and overall well-being. Thanks to her guidance, I achieved personal bests and gained a deeper understanding of my mental strengths. I wholeheartedly recommend her to anyone looking to elevate their performance." — Professional Athlete
